How can I improve the signal strength

Signal strength can be as much as a factor of the phone as the network. 

Please make sure your phone is fully charged as battery power makes a huge difference.

Other things that can affect signal strength are:

  • If the phone is in a case that contains any metal this can interfere with the internal aerial in the phone
  • Local interference for other electrical devices, white goods with large motors, washing machines, 'fridges etc can create interference as the motors get older. 
  • The structure of the building you are in, if it has any metal in the walls, metal window frames or leaded windows this can have a huge impact on indoor reception.
  • It could be that there as a temporary fault, or engineering works being carried out, on the mast nearest to you. Your phone would have then transferred its signal to the next nearest mast. Once the original mast was back in operation your phone may not automatically switch back. You can force it to do so, by either putting it in flight mode for a couple of minutes or restarting your phone.
